How to Build Your Own Craps Table for People Who Want to Build a Practice Craps Table

This article is about how to build your own craps table. I've never been particularly handy, and I've never built a craps table or a poker table or anything like. Before you get excited, a couple of warnings based on my admittedly non-male tendency to not want to work on "projects" like this:

That estimate doesn't include what you'll need to spend on tools, but it's probably safe to assume that most people interested in this subject already have some of the following tools available to them:

Constructing a Craps Table VS Buying a Craps Table

Before constructing a craps table, ask yourself if you wouldn't just be better off with a used craps table. Where can I buy a craps table? (Or, if you're like me, where can I buy a cheap craps table?) You can probably buy a professional craps table on eBay for between $1500 and $4000.

Or you might look in your local classified ads, especially if you live in Vegas. Craigslist is another option. There might even be ways of buying a new craps table, but I'm assuming that if you're interested in learning how to construct a craps table, then you're looking to save a little bit of money.

Finding a Craps Table Layout

Do you know what the top of a craps table looks like? Most of us have a vague idea, but to actually build a table, you'll need to know exactly what one looks like. You can probably find a printable craps table layout online with very little effort using Google, but really all you need is the craps table felt if you're going to practice dice setting techniques. I'm assuming you want the table to practice dice control rather than to set up your own casino, which would be illegal almost everywhere anyway.

The hard part is actually going to be putting the thing together, and for that, you're going to need a craps table design. Craps table blueprints and craps table diagrams are also easily available online. Just try a Google search for any of the following terms:
